General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee Tô Lâm, his spouse, and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation left Minsk in the evening of Monday (local time), concluding their successful state visit to the Belarus at the invitation of President Alexander Lukashenko.
The General Secretary emphasised that Việt Nam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship with Belarus, considering Belarus one of the important partners in the region.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, Việt Nam and Belarus have maintained and developed the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with increasingly high political trust.
The visit showed that Việt Nam wants to further strengthen political trust between the two countries, identify orientations to bring the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia to new heights, strengthen the cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Việt Nam and major political parties in Russia.
Vietnamese Party leader Tô Lâm’s visit holds great significance, and is expected open up a new chapter in bilateral relations, which were built on friendship, trust, assistance and mutual understanding.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyễn Văn Ngự said that the visit is also expected to enhance the effectiveness of existing mechanisms, form new cooperation mechanisms, help ministries, agencies, localities and businesses of the two countries to better understand each other's potential, and seek more cooperation opportunities.
The Vietnamese ambassaodr underscored nuclear energy cooperation as a priority in bilateral relations. Beyond the construction of nuclear power plants, Russia could assist Việt Nam in developing an entire nuclear industry, enabling Việt Nam to enter a new phase of development.
Việt Nam and Azerbaijan share a long-standing bond, cultivated by President Hồ Chí Minh and Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev, and strengthened over the decades by successive leaders and their people.
The tour of Russia and the other three countries, which used to be part of the Soviet Union, especially the Central Asian and Caucasus countries, and have supported Việt Nam in the past struggles for national safeguarding in the past and the cause of national construction and defence at present, presents an occasion to affirm Việt Nam’s sincere and loyal ties, as well as its desire to promote long-term, effective, substantive and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak hopes the two countries will continue to develop the free trade agreement between Việt Nam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
They expressed their trust that under the new Party chief's leadership, Việt Nam will continue its achievements and strong relations with other countries.
